The President of the United States today signed into law the most sweeping financial “reform” in order to protect us from evil bankers and people who work on Wall Street. I just have a couple of simple questions. Has any Senator or Representative, Democrat or Republican, actually READ THE BILL? The vast majority never read the Health Care “reform” bill that was passed on March 21. Remember Nancy Pelosi’s great line of “we have to pass the bill to find out what’s in it?” People on both sides of the political aisle voted for this new bill, or against it. It’s well over 2000 pages like the Health Care bill. But HAS ANYONE READ IT? Has the President? If you asked any Senator or Representative to tell you exactly what’s in the thing, could they actually tell you (without guessing or lying)? Are any on record saying that they really read the thing all the way through–by themselves–without the help of congressional aides?
I dunno. Call me a naive crazy fool. But I really do read contracts before I sign them. Whether I’m buying a house or a car, or getting a new job. Whatever. I take my time and read it through. I want to know what I’m getting into. Sounds logical doesn’t it?
Last question, when was the LAST TIME our Congress EVER did anything responsibly when it comes to spending our money? Republicans, Democrats. . . .it doesn’t matter. These are the people who over the decades have flushed zillions of dollars down government sponsored rat holes, and we trust them NOW to keep us financially solvent? In the past 18 months the current Congress has pushed us into TRILLIONS of dollars worth of debt, and they can’t stop looting and spending, and NOW they are “reforming” financial institutions to protect us?
Am I the only one out there thinking this? God help us. Congress sure can’t.
