“The Decree From On High”

July 16th, 2010

Yesterday the Obama administration decreed that health insurance companies must now give free medical screenings for their clients.  Here is the story from the New York times:

I know this is a crazy question, but can anyone find it ANYWHERE in the U.S. Constitution where the Executive Branch (the President) has the legal authority to decree to private companies that they must offer “free” services?

Second question, and I know this is equally crazy, but– isn’t there at least ONE private business out there that is willing to tell the Federal Government that they can take their illegal activities and go fly a kite?  Or go pound sand–or something like that?  Where are the businesses that are exhibiting some backbone against such thug policies?

Last question (well I guess I’m on a roll of saying crazy things), where are the Congressmen with guts and a conscience who are actually speaking up and speaking out against all this.  I’ve heard a few here and there, but not nearly enough. . .

If ANY President has such authority to just “decree” and make private businesses do his bidding, what other business or private home or individual can he “decree against” next?
